Why share a story

Do you want to share a story about a person that helps their native community, or organization that has history that should be known? Are there place based history and knowledge that you want to share? 

Price

The price depends on the complexity of the recording. We have interviewed cultural practitioners to community groups to give a voice to those in the community making a difference. We have access to research and writers that can create walking tours or place based stories. Interviews can start at $200 for a 30 min interview to $4,000 for a 1hr walking tour.

Where will the recording occur?

Our preference is to meet in our Waimanalo recording room because the background noise is minimal. Cleaning of the audio file can take time if not done correctly from the beginning? We can also come to you if it is quiet and we can setup our blankets and other equipment to dampen the reverb (noise bouncing off walls). If it is outside, we can use our lavalieres (wireless microphones), but if it is too noisy, we may need to stop and redo it inside. If it is not on Oahu, we can fly there at a cost or do it over the internet at no added fee. 

When can we meet?

Most of our interviewers are doing this in their spare time, so we prefer weeknights or weekends during the afternoon or evening. Submit your preferred interview time in the form. 

Stuff we need from you

The Story Idea form to schedule a story recording will request Submitters name, person to be recorded, Point of Contact (email address and phone number), story name, short description of topic, signed Media Release form and preferred date and time to record/interview. The form to Upload Information will request Story Title, Storyteller Name, Interviewer Name, Date Recorded, Story Description, Language, audio mp3 file info, image, photo credit, favorite quote during interview, Location (latitude, longitude), Sponsor name, social media hashtags and name, Resources, and Translator.

Edit, Produce, and Publish

We charge $200 to edit, produce, publish each story. Once the recording is complete, the next step is to remove audio that does not belong, than make it sound good by leveling and equalizing it, than adding the intro and outro if applicable. If there is a sponsor, we would add it here. Than we upload the mp3 and picture files with the content provided in the Upload Information form.
